St. PaulsOur first presentation will be about St. Paul’s Senior Services and their exciting upcoming activities, programs, and volunteer opportunities. Additionally, we'll learn from Pat Mosteller some facts about the human brain, and valuable everyday lifestyle choices that can make a big difference in maintaining a healthy brain.

Pat MostellerPat Mosteller has taught classes for the San Diego Community College, Emeritus Program since 1985, and currently serves as the Department Chair for the Program. During her tenure with San Diego Community College District, she studied the impact of education on brain health, and eventually developed a Brain Fitness Program to help older adults maintain and regain memory, brain processing speed, focus, attention, and cognitive skills. Under the leadership of Posit Science, a Neuroscience Research and Technology company, San Diego Community College now offers one of the most successful Brain Fitness Educational Programs in the state. Along with the most current brain-health information and recommendations, SDCC Brain Fitness classes utilize computer-delivered exercises that improve brain functioning and cognitive health.

Joaquin AngueraOur second presenter, Joaquin Anguera will expand on the topic, "Celebrating Aging." National aging organizations are talking about the need to "reframe aging" so that everyone in our society – young and old alike- realize the potential of this stage of life. Joaquin worked at Aging and Independence Services for 30 years and then went on to teach Gerontology at SDSU for 15 years. He is now a Governor-appointed member of the California Commission on Aging.
