The County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) awarded $108,940 to 87 community programs and the CECO Employee Crisis Fund during its annual awards ceremony Friday at the North Inland Live Well Center in Escondido. A new affordable housing community for older adults has opened on South Santa Fe Avenue in North County. La Sábila, located just outside the City of Vista in unincorporated San Diego County, offers 85 affordable apartments for residents ages 55 and older. The $48.5 million development includes 42 units reserved for adults 62 and up who are exiting homelessness. Those units are supported through the County of San Diego’s Project-Based Voucher program for very low-income seniors. Read More…

The new Ramona Community Resource Center celebrated its first year in its new location, serving as a one-stop place for County services like mental health, nutrition, and healthcare. With help from the Swingin’ Friar, and Padres players Jackson Merrill and Joe Musgrove, the County marked the official reopening and renaming of the former Miracle Field to Padres Park at San Dieguito Park. The County’s Board of Supervisors received an update on the Aging Roadmap today, a comprehensive plan to make sure our region has the programs and resources needed to support the growing number of older adults. By 2029, the region’s older adult population is expected to grow to 820,000, making up a quarter of the County’s population of 3.3 million residents. Read more…
